I‘ve had the pleasure of serving under two different Directors of the ARRL Delta Division. A key activity has been to produce the biennial Survey of ARRL Members in the Delta Division report. Another has been to foster club development in Mississippi and elsewhere in the Division where possible.
I stepped down from this position on October 5, 2015. With my day-job role as Editor-in-Chief with a large scientific publisher and a leadership role in the Magnolia Radio Intertie non-profit corporation, I just felt that I could no longer devote the time to serve the League and the amateur radio community in this capacity. I received a very special email note from Kay Craigie N3KN, ARRL President, on my League service, especially for my successful lobbying effort to get Senate Bill S.1685 Amateur Radio Parity Act 2015 submitted by Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS).
During 2017, Delta Division Director David Norris asked me to return as Assistant Director, once he learned that I had retired as Editor-in-Chief at Springer Media. I agreed. So I’m on my second stint in this position.
